Monday, Dec. 7, Ron Pobuda graciously opened his home again for a benefit to support Central Park. Broadway performers were invited to attend the gala and sing around the piano, with part of the night’s proceeds going back to Broadway Cares. I had chosen to sing ”Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and then just before I left Wantagh, I found out Bobbi Eakes had picked the same song to sing. So there I was on the LIRR, cramming to learn “Let it Snow…” on the ride in. When I got to the apartment, my sister Carine and her friend Liz, both music majors from Crane School of Music helped me prepare a little more. Frank Conway from Broadway Cares gave me a great intro and explained my small predicament so everyone laughed - and forgave me holding the sheet music. Matt Eisenstein was a terrific accompanist and knew exactly how to make me sound more practiced than I actually was!
